Younger reminiscence: Top 10 moments of season 3

Younger’s season 3 is full of twisted drama and sexual tension mixed with both heartfelt moments and those very funny. Already the opener has it all.

The season opener has Liza is dressing up to meet Charles and Diana is funny while being a really good colleague to Kelsey, taking her to Marie’s Crisis Café, and a whole lot of other great moments that did or did not make the list.

And so it goes on in season 3, but no, no there is no opera moment in this list. The zipper scene felt contrived, I’m sure there were at least ten women at the rest room that could have helped her with that dress. But alas, there are so many other moments to smile and sigh sweetly at. Again, Josh does not make the list, but in his defence I must say that he shows some growth this season. Charles on the other hand is all over the top ten list for this season.

1. Liza feverishly chewing paper in A Kiss is Just a Kiss

Younger 3x01 e…after that Marie Kondo copy, Kiko, has the audacity to want to read aloud Liza’s four-square note, where Charles got the last square of things Liza cares about the most.

2. Kelsey coming clean in A Kiss is Just a Kiss

“Part of me was relieved when Thad died. Now I didn’t have to marry him.”

Younger 3x01 fAfter having admitted it to a horse, she could also tell Liza in a really touching scene. Kelsey had been working too much to bury her guilt about being happy about Thad’s (un)timely death, so she did not have to marry him just to prove people wrong.

3. Everything that’s going in with Charles in A Kiss is Just a Kiss

”Liza, I think you are fantastic. You don’t have to explain a thing.” Charles says it almost in one sentence, yet it is two completely unrelated ones. The first is something he thinks aloud, the second a response to Liza’s “I’m so sorry about last night”. Together they make a strange but fabulous pair.

Younger 3x01Charles is always honest about how he feels about Liza, he cannot help himself but to tell the truth. As usual he is also very supportive and understanding towards her. Then it’s like he snaps out of his honest, well-mannered state and the hurt he also feels takes over with another more harsh pair of statements. ”It was just a kiss, Liza. Let it go.”

4. The bookstore owner premonition in Last Days of Books

”I’m not sad. Nothing lasts forever. And we sure enjoyed it while we had it. That’s the most important thing. Here’s to the next chapter.”

Younger 3x03 here's to the next chapterThose are the words Liza hears while watching Josh through the window as he is waiting (sweetly) in the car.

5. Charles being ambiguous in P is for Pancake

C: “I’m a hopeless romantic.”
D: “Like Don Quixote.”
C: “Yeah, but hopefully less delusional. ”

Yes, Charles is telling tech investor Bryce that he still believes in books and great stories, but it’s not hard to imagine he also hopes he is not delusional when it comes to a particular woman (as also Don Quixote was).

Then a few minutes later when Liza comes to commend him on his words he seems more confident that he is not: ”Sometimes I can be impulsive when I follow my heart”

6. Charles getting bothered in Ladies who lust

…and someone is not happy about it. Yes, Liza is reading aloud from THAT book.

7. Liza on drugs in What’s Up, Dock?

“That thing that happened between us meant something to me.”

Younger 3x08 on drugsThings you don’t want to admit when sober and professional slips out when you are high on morphine. Pity only that it was David, not Charles in the room. Charles did get to tuck her piggies in so, all good.

8. Diana’s therapist being spot on in Summer Friday

”I hear that you are frustrated, but frustration has become your comfort zone”.

When Diana complains about being alone, her shrink really sees her.
T: “You’ve filtered so many men. And you have so many rules.”
D:” You mean standards”
T: ”No, I mean barriers to intimacy. Get out there. Take a few swings.”

Another one of those actually gripping scenes. Also that jacket of hers.

9. Redmond telling Kelsey the way it is in Summer Friday

“No, I did my job, you overshared.”

Younger 3x09 Redmond does his jobRedmond is right. Kelsey is good at her job, but she also makes mistakes. She shouldn’t have given EW the book without a signed deal. Redmond did not stab her in the back. His hair though…

10. Liza moving in in A Book Fair to Remember

”I like you.”

Charles cannot help being honest again and Liza can blame it on gin and music best she wants, but there is no way around it, she is resolutely moving in for that kiss. And then we have the grabbing of the jacket.

As mentioned earlier this season was full of funny moments, so some bonus moments:

Younger 3x03 I was a slut in high schoolLiza’s desperate fake confession: “I was a slut in high school.”

Younger 3x03 dead exThe scared single guy warning the next one: “Dead ex”

And finally:

Younger 3x11 DAnish? 2“Danish? Good choice.” Charles is being painfully lame and he knows it.

That’s it, folks! Coming back with season four and more Younger here: Younger
